When our family decided to buy a half share in a Cirrus SR22 with the intention of taking our kids flying and exploring Australia, I was concerned to ensure we would all be as safe as could be. While I was impressed with the safety features of the SR22, I gained even more confidence through spending time with Adam learning how to operate the plane in the event of an emergency. The “Partner Experience” lesson with Adam was a heap of fun. Having never had any formal flying training before I admit to being a little nervous at the prospect of taking control and operating an airplane. Adam’s friendly style helped put me at ease and his ability to clearly explain and demonstrate what was required meant that I quickly learned the basics. I was able to take control of the plane, engage the autopilot and go through the emergency process to deploy the parachute and make the necessary radio calls by the end of our lesson. Not only do I now feel more comfortable in flying in our plane, the whole experience was enjoyable and very rewarding.

Being an engineer and new to the aviation industry I was shocked at how old some of the General Aviation technology, equipment and processes are. I decided to train from the very beginning in later model Cirrus aircraft because of the updated safety features and avionics. In the last 2 years I went from zero hours to getting RPL, PPL and Instrument Rating in the Cirrus. I undertook all my training with the Cirrus specialist, Adam Starr who is a Platinum CSIP with more than 2,000 hours of instruction in Cirrus aircraft. Adam is my first choice for flight instruction, he has a great personality and is very patient, knowledgeable, thorough and observant with just that little mean streak that all good trainers have to push students to achieve.
