Our professional instructor pilots are experts in flight training in Cirrus. Based in Brisbane, we are a Cirrus Platinum Training Partner, upholding the global standards of excellence that Cirrus uses for their in-house flight training.
We conduct personal, one-on-one training but can easily accommodate teaching multiple pilots, such as spouses and work associates, at one time. You can choose to fly your own plane or use one of our modern, air-conditioned Cirrus aircraft.

Transition to Cirrus
Learn to fly the safest general aviation aircraft on the market. Our Transition to Cirrus training is factory-standardised and certified training for licenced pilots who wish to fly a Cirrus aircraft. We can also help transition you to different Cirrus models and avionics packages.
Learn to Fly
In our Learn to Fly package, we train people with no flying experience to fly a Cirrus aircraft. From day one, you’ll train in the comfort and safety of a modern Cirrus aircraft, with training adapted to your specific needs. Our syllabus builds on the approved training by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), giving you greater skill and understanding without the need for additional study.
Instrument Rating
Learn how to manage all weather situations to fly when and where you want. This course focuses on building your proficiency in navigating en route and flying in different meteorological conditions. You’ll train in the safety of a Cirrus aircraft, applying practical skills that will help you enjoy all the benefits of your Cirrus aircraft.
90-Day Currency & Rolling Proficiency Training
Starr Aviation provides recurrent and skills refresher training with a focus on Instrumental Flight Rules (IFR) and Visual Flight Rules (VFR). With the 90-Day Currency and Rolling Proficiency Training, you’ll remain at the top of your game, to keep you, your loved ones and your other passengers safe in the air. Our training also maintains your CASA-legislated currency and certification, so you don’t have to worry about it. We can include Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) syllabus items, complete flight reviews, and conduct proficiency checks during the training, which will mean you stay current, safe and legal.
Cirrus Factory Standardised Training
We offer a full suite of training programs as a Cirrus factory Platinum training partner, including CAPS™ (Cirrus Airframe Parachute System) courses and refreshers, landing standardisation, icing awareness, and instrument procedures. We also offer training to help you convert to different Cirrus aircraft, different avionics suites, and different powerplant course. All of our training is certified and approved by the Cirrus factory.
Conversion to Fly in Australia
If you’re a pilot from another country, Starr Aviation can help you convert so you can fly in Australia. For pilots unfamiliar with Cirrus aircraft, we offer a familiarisation and flight review session combined with our Transition to Cirrus training. Cirrus pilots will only need to complete the flight review to meet Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulations. Make sure you allow ample time for CASA and your own regulatory body to complete the required paperwork.
New Owner Transition
Starr Aviation can help new owners become familiar with their new Cirrus aircraft. After handing over the keys, our factory-certified instructors will stay and provide you with personalised training and mentoring. You’ll get to know how to use the aircraft to its full potential, learn about the many safety features, and finish fully comfortable in flying your new aircraft.
Embark Program
The Embark Program is a Cirrus initiative launched in 2017 that provides training and mentoring for pilots buying pre-owned Cirrus aircraft. Access the same training and mentoring as a new aircraft owner to ensure you’re safe and comfortable, and able to use your aircraft to the best of your ability.
High Performance Training
Do you want to further your skills? Fly instrument procedures in the safest and most efficient way? Step up to high-power or high-speed aircraft? Prepare yourself for jet or turboprop aircraft? This is what Starr Aviation specialises in—mentoring you and encouraging you to achieve higher goals. Step out of 120 knots at 6000 feet and experience a new way of flying.
High-Altitude Training
Soar to where the air is clear and master the ins and outs of high-altitude flying. Using our turbo model aircraft, you’ll explore the different flight levels. Our specialists will take you through high-altitude physiology, transitioning between flight levels, engine management at high altitude, and use of oxygen and icing systems on the aircraft.
Glass Cockpit Training
If you’re considering flying or buying a Cirrus, or any brand of glass cockpit aircraft, we can help you become familiar with the avionics. We can provide G1000 or glass cockpit courses to meet the specifications of manufacturers and aircraft hire companies.
